FAQ
Questions
Getting started and enrolling
How do we enroll?
Call (907) 232-4967 or email inquire@matsumusicacademy.com. You can enroll when there is a space. One form can enroll up to three students. For more than three, submit the form again or email us. After you enroll, Matsu Music Academy emails you to confirm the teacher, lesson day, and time.
Which instruments and ages do you teach?
We offer 30- or 60-minute lessons in piano, voice, guitar, and ukulele for ages 3 and up.
Where is the studio, and when does it open?
Lessons are at the studio, 1175 N Leatherleaf Loop, Suite A, Wasilla, AK 99654. In-home lessons are not part of the enrollment agreement.
Lessons and scheduling
How long are lessons?
Lessons are 30 or 60 minutes, once a week, on a regular day and time with the same teacher.
How do we get a lesson time?
On the inquiry form, you can put your preferred lesson time and day. We will then confirm the exact schedule by email.
How soon will you reply?
Matsu Music Academy replies within one business day. Call (907) 232-4967 or email inquire@matsumusicacademy.com.
Attendance, cancellations and make-ups
What if we miss a lesson?
Tuition reserves that day and time, whether or not your student attends. A missed lesson, including illness, travel, or a no-show, gets no credit, no refund, and no makeup.
What if the teacher cancels or the studio closes?
That lesson is refunded to the original payment method. A makeup may also be offered if the schedule allows and you agree.
How do we stop lessons or change the schedule?
To stop, call (907) 232-4967 or email inquire@matsumusicacademy.com by the 15th of the month. Notice by the 15th stops the next autopay charge or invoice, and lessons end with the current month. Notice after the 15th means one more month is charged on the 25th, and lessons end after that month. A move to another open lesson time is free.
Payments and billing
How does tuition work?
Private lessons are $49 for 30 minutes. Group lessons are $39 for one hour. Tuition is paid in advance to reserve your student’s recurring day and time. It is not payment for the lessons attended. The monthly amount stays the same all year, even though some months have four lessons and some have five. Families who pay by card are on autopay on the 25th, which covers the next month. Families who pay by bank are billed by invoice. If you join mid-month, the first month covers only the lessons left in that month. There is no credit card surcharge, and the enrollment form never asks for a card or bank number.
Is there a registration fee or a late fee?
A registration fee is due when you enroll, and a late fee can apply after the 1st of the month. We share those amounts when you inquire. If tuition stays unpaid, the reserved time may be released.
Homeschool allotment programs
Can a homeschool allotment program pay?
Yes. We can bill Mat-Su Central, Twindly, IDEA, CyberLynx, Raven, or another program. Lessons can start before the program approves the purchase. Your family pays anything the program does not cover, including the full cost if the request is denied. Matsu Music Academy does not set allotment amounts.
Studio and policies
Lobby & Studio Policies
To help keep our studio safe, welcoming, and focused on learning, please keep noise at a considerate level in the lobby and avoid disruptive behavior while lessons are in progress. Children under 10 must have a parent or guardian on the premises at all times, including during their lessons. Parents and guardians are responsible for supervising children in the lobby and other shared areas. Please treat our space, instruments, and equipment with care. Enter lesson rooms only when invited by an instructor, and ask permission before touching or playing instruments. Thank you for helping us create a positive environment for every student and family!
Where can I read the student policies?
The Student Policies & Agreement is published at https://www.matsumusicacademy.com/policies/student-policies.pdf.
